Discover the Vinschgau/Venosta Valley by bike

Starting April 18, 2026, getting around Vinschgau/Venosta Valley becomes even more convenient: with the new Bikeliner, cyclists can travel comfortably between Merano and Malles. The service will run until October 4, 2026, enhancing the existing offer for combined excursions along the Val Venosta railway line. 

The Bikeliner is a practical and reliable alternative to the train, ideal for those who want to explore the valley by bike with more flexibility. Departures are scheduled daily from Merano station (bus stop B) at 9:10 and 10:10 in the morning, and at 15:10 and 16:10 in the afternoon. Along the route, stops are planned in Naturno, Laces, Silandro, Spondigna, and Malles – exclusively for passenger drop-off. 

New this year: for the first time it is possible to book the return trips from Malles to Merano. Departures from Malles are scheduled at 7:00, 12:00, 13:00, and 18:00. In this case as well, intermediate stops are only for drop-off.

Standard bicycles and e-bikes are allowed on board. For safety and space reasons, tandem bikes, cargo bikes, and bike trailers cannot be transported. Please remind this when planning your trip.  

To secure your spot, booking your seat and bicycle transport in advance is recommended. Bookings can be made until 18:00 on the day before your planned travel via our dedicated portal.  

The travel ticket and the bicycle transport ticket must be purchased separately at the südtirolmobil sales point, ticket machines or with the südtirolmobil app. The trips from Malles to Meran are exclusively available with a reservation only.  

To allow a major number of cyclists to use the service, the seat are primary allocated to those who have also booked bicycle transport. Up to 14 seats are available for reservation on each trip. Cyclists without a reservation, as well as passengers without a bicycle, can travel only if there are additional seats available.

To ensure a punctual and smooth service, passengers are advised to arrive at Merano station at least 15 minutes before departure to allow a safe loading of the bicycles. In case of late arrival, the reservation will be forfeited. 

To use the Bikeliner, two tickets are necessary: a valid südtirolmobil ticket like single ticket, südtirolmobil Pass, or Alto Adige Guest Pass and a bicycle transport ticket. The daily bike transport ticket costs €7.50 and can be buyed at ticket machines or via the südtirolmobil app. Holders of the südtirolmobil Pass can buy it with the app at a reduced price of €3.50.
