Bike in the train

Bring your bike

Your bike always by your side, but under certain conditions

On public transport, the carriage of bicycles is subject to a charge and limited for reasons of space and safety. In the event of overcrowding, the on-board staff reserves the right to refuse access to bicycles.

One-day ticket for bike transport: 7 EUR (Day pass).

Südtirol Pass daily rates: 3.50 EUR
By activating the additional service package in the online account, you can have the daily rate for bike transport charged directly to your Südtirol Pass and Euregio Family Pass, as well as to your Südtirol Pass abo+ and Südtirol Pass 65+.

The fares are also valid on the südtirolmobil cable cars and for the transport of unfolded electric scooters and mopeds.

Bikemobil Card with rental – with the bikemobil card you can rent a bike at a special daily rate from participating partners and use public transport in South Tyrol without restrictions throughout the summer. Please note: transport of the rented bike on public transport is not included, as you can return it to one of the participating rental points before boarding.

Validity and free transport for bicycles

Fares are only valid for local transport within the integrated südtirolmobil network in South Tyrol and for regional trains to Trento.

  • Südtirolmobil cable cars – the südtirolmobil tariffs apply on the Renon/Ritten cable car and the Mendola/Mendel funicular (day ticket for 7 EUR or Südtirol Pass for 3.50 EUR);
  • Renon/Ritten light railway – you cannot take your bike with you;
  • Interregional trains: Trenitalia fares apply for journeys south of Trento;
  • Cross-border routes – ÖBB and VVT sell special tickets for journeys to North or East Tyrol (Brennero/Brenner – Innsbruck or San Candido/Innichen – Lienz);
  • The Colle/Kohlern, Verano/Vöran, Meltina/Mölten and Maranza/Meransen cable-cars have special rates.

Free transport for bicycles

  • Children's bicycles (under 20 inches);
  • Folding bicycles (folded) and unicycles (on the bus they must be placed on the luggage rack or in a bag if possible);
  • Bicycle trailers: free transport on the train (unhooked from the bike);
  • Hand bikes/recumbents: free transport on the train; on the bus they can only be transported if there is space on the luggage rack.
  • Scooters and electric scooters: if folded, they are accepted as baggage and transported free of charge.

Exception: scooters and unfolded electric scooters can be transported on the train at the bicycle transport price.

Where and how many bicycles?

Regional trains: You can only take a bicycle if there is enough space on the train. The capacity of the bicycle racks is approximately 16 to 20 bicycles. It is not possible to reserve a space.
For safety reasons, train staff may restrict or prohibit the carriage of bicycles in the event of overcrowding. There is therefore no guarantee that all passengers with a bicycle and a valid ticket will be able to board the train.

Regional buses: Bicycles can only be transported on regional buses in exceptional cases, as most buses do not have a special space for bikes.

Excursion buses: Some buses are equipped with bicycle racks that can accommodate 5 to 6 bicycles.

  • In the timetable, these routes are marked with an “A”
  • Stops where bikes can be loaded are marked with a bicycle symbol.
  • Please note: electric bicycles cannot be transported.

Urban buses and Citybuses: Not equipped to carry bicycles.
